Elementary Music

Vice President of Elementary Choirs - Lisa Pitts

Lisa Pitts is a K–5 music teacher and honor choir director at Highlandville Elementary School in the Spokane R-7 School District. She also enjoys teaching piano and providing her students with meaningful and memorable performance opportunities. Lisa earned her degree in Music Education from Evangel University in 2005 and recently completed Kodály Level I training through the Kodály Institute at Missouri State University. Lisa strives to foster a classroom where creativity, curiosity, and fun are at the heart of making music, encouraging students to explore, express themselves, and discover the joy of being musicians. She is excited to bring the ideas and inspiration from her Kodály training into the classroom and share even more musical fun with her students. Outside of teaching, Lisa loves spending time with her family, roller skating and shuffling to music on skates, ice skating, and, whenever she gets the chance, discovering a new K-drama to enjoy!

2026 - 2027 SCMMEA Elementary Honor Choir Information:

1) Fill out the Registration form; this form will close at midnight on December 18, 2026.

2. Pay via credit card on Katie Presser's (our SCMMEA Treasurer) page on the SCMMEA Website

2)  Order Music for each student:

  • Ad Astra (2-part) - Jacob Narverud

  • Becoming You (2-part) - Bethany Main

  • Kusimama (2-part) - Jim Papoulis

  • Storm (2-part) - James M. Desjardins

  • Aiken Drum (2-part) - Blake Richter

  • Our clinician is requesting additional instruments for several pieces. It would be fantastic if we could have choir directors in our group who would be willing and comfortable volunteering to take on an instrumental role (mostly percussion, a guitar, and one violin/fiddle) to help out at the concert. If you are interested in helping out, please contact me!

  • Note: you are invited to contact Liz Loudis at Ernie Williamson at loudis@erniewilliamson.com or at (417) 832-1665 x112 who would be happy to help order any music you need year-round.  She can provide, on average, a 20% discount off the cover price. With some smaller publishers, that is not possible, but they will cover shipping.

3) Practice Tracks

  • It will be accessible in our Google Drive once completed (anticipated by beginning of October)

4)  Remember future dates:

  • January 15, 2027: T-shirts sizes and Program Names due.

  • February 5, 2027: Money must be postmarked, and remember that you can now pay online. (I would do your PO before December Board Meeting if possible)

  • February 20, 2027: Event at SBU (see one pager for tentative schedule)
